WEST BEND - The Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire (GTRA) edged out a close and exciting 45-44 win over the West Bend-Mallard (WBM) Wolverines in Class 1A girls' regional basketball on Thursday night, Feb. 13.

The 8-14 Titans advance to face MMCRU on Tuesday night while the Wolverines end their season at 5-16.

GTRA got off to an early start over WBM, putting up 19 points in the first quarter while the Wolverines remained scoreless. However, the Wolverine offense found a little rhythm midway through the second quarter and brought the score to within nine points by halftime. The second half turned into a battle of wills as both teams ramped up their defensive efforts to bring the game to its exciting conclusion in the final minutes of play. As the clock ticked down, each team would take the lead until an errant Wolverine pass coupled with a last minute turnover would give the Titans the edge they needed to walk away with the win.

Madison Hough would lead the Titans in scoring offense, putting 29 points on the board including six three point shots and 9 of 12 from the free throw line.

Defensively, Ally Hanson would grab eight rebounds for the Titans while Kate Sorenson and Lauren Josephson each fought their way to six.

For the Wolverines, Rachel Fehr scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds during the contest.

Kayla Hoskins would put up 11 points and Tori Fogarty scored seven.
