WEST BEND - The West Bend-Mallard (WBM) Wolverines suffered a 58-20 loss at the hands of the Harris-Lake Park Wolves during Friday night's Homecoming contest in West Bend. The Wolverines would enter the contest 3-2 overall, coming off back to back road wins in 8 Man District play, but a tough Wolves ground and air attack would spell the difference in the Wolverine setback.

Quarterback Cole Thilges would throw for 228 yards on the night, including a 55 yard touchdown pass to Mike Auten late in the first quarter and a 21 yard touchdown pass to Jared Schmidt midway through the second. Levi Mogler would also catch four Thilges passes for 106 yards.

The Wolverines would rush for 73 yards during the contest, with Creytan Grimm running for 31 yards, Thilges dashing for 29, including a 1 yard end zone sprint in the fourth quarter, and 13 yards from Schmidt.

The Wolverines struggled defensively in the first half, allowing the Wolves to score 50 points before halftime, with 37 of those points in the second quarter. However, WBM was able to hold the Wolves to only 8 points in the second half.

The Wolverines also attempted two successful two-point conversions. The first came from a Thilges pass to Auten and the second saw Thilges connect with Mogler.

On Friday, Oct. 4, the WBM Wolverines will travel to Kingsley High School to take on the 1-4 Kingsley-Pierson Panthers.
