An exhibition of works by artist Dave Carpenter will begin on Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Emmetsburg Public Library and will run until Saturday March 9. The public is invited to a short demonstration by Dave at 1 p.m. this Saturday in the Library.

Dave sold his first cartoon in 1976 and went fulltime in the cartoon business in 1981. His primary niche was drawing gag cartoons for magazines, but over the years he has also done advertising art, greeting cards, book illustrations, as well as a variety of other humorous illustrations.

His work has appeared in such publications as Our Iowa, Reader's Digest, The Wall Street Journal, Saturday Evening Post, Chicken Soup for the Soul books, Woman's World, Good Housekeeping, and numerous other publications. Dave also creates cartoons for The Democrat and The Reporter newspapers in Emmetsburg.

Dave still works fulltime in the cartoon business.

This exhibition is another in the continuing series of art works sponsored by the Palo Alto Arts Council, Emmetsburg Public Library, and Iowa Lakes Community College Library.
