Boys’ Basketball Drops Two, Win Against West Bend

The Emmetsburg boys' basketball team met tough resistance with two of their last three games. On January 22, the team faced a dominant Newell-Fonda team who beat the E-Hawks 62 to 36.

Tim Geelan was the lead scorer of the night making 5 of his 10 shots from inside the paint and was 50 percent on his free throw shooting with 2 of 4 made. Senior Clayton Swanson and Sophomore Ben Dunlap gave the E-Hawk boys 6 points. Dunlap also led his team in rebounds with 10 of the 35 pulled in. Corbin Saathoff scored four points against the Mustangs.

The following matchup on January 24, was in Pocahontas where the Indians were able to win 83 to 46. Tim Geelan was able to score 14 on the night, Ben Dunlap showed out with 15 points, Connor Joyce ended his night with 5 points and Zach Foxhoven ended with 4 against the Indians.

The next day, January 25, the E-Hawks were able to snap the four game losing streak with a 54-33 victory against West Bend-Mallard.

The team headed to Alta-Aurelia on January 29 to face the 5 and 9 Warriors. The E-Hawks stand at 6 and 11.
