After a very tough defeat against the best ranked girls basketball team in the state of Iowa, losing 64 to 27, the Emmetsburg E'Hawks were able to string together two wins last week.

The first game on January 24, against Pocahontas Area, gave junior Molly Schany another opportunity to make her presence known on the court. The girls' squad won 53 to 37 after Molly helped the team with 19 points from her 8 of 15 shots from the field and making 2 of her 3 shots from beyond the three point line. Molly was also able to secure 13 of the team's 33 total rebounds.

Junior Raven Brown, who seems to be the other consistent baller for the squad went 7 for 12 from the field scoring 15 points. Lindsay Carter gave the team four more points, Hailey Foxhoven ended the night with 5 points, Gretchen Hofstad helped the team with rebounds grabbing five, and Abbie Schany was able to score six after only taking two shots from the field, but was almost perfect from the free throw line after going 4 for 5.

The next day, January 25, the girls kept the ball moving against West Bend-Mallard dominating their opponent 61 to 23.

M. Schany virtually mirrored her performance scoring another 19 points and grabbing just 12 rebounds this time. She was nearly perfect from the free throw line going 9 for 11 total attempts. Lindsay Carter provided the team with 10 more points on her night and was able to grab three steals. Abbie Schany put up a respectable 12 points and four total rebounds.

The E'Hawk girls' team will travel to Alta-Aurelia on January 29 with just four more games left in the season.
