E-Hawks Blanked by Warriors

ALTA Emmetsburg would suffer an 11-0 shutout at the hands of Alta-Aurelia on Tuesday night in boys baseball action. The setback evens Emmetsburg at 10-10 on the season as the post season approaches.

The Warriors opened their half of the inning with a walk that would turn into a run after a double and a fielder's choice, but ended up leaving three runners on base. Emmetsburg would open their half of the inning with a lone base runner as Nick Schany got on base off a dropped third strike, but he would be left waiting when the inning ended.

Alta-Aurelia stranded a runner of their own in the top of the second inning, while Emmetsburg would be retired in order in the second. The Warriors added a run before being retired for a 2-0 lead midway through the third frame. Another three up and three out inning would follow for the E-Hawks, but the fourth inning saw the E-Hawks retire Alta-Aurelia in order, only to be retired in order again.

Alta-Aurelia added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, while stranding one runner to take a 3-0 lead. It would be s similar story in the bottom of the fifth for the E-Hawks.

In the top of the sixth, The Warriors would strand two runners, but Emmetsburg would get walk from Hunter McAllister with two outs, but he would be left waiting when the inning ended.

In the top of the seventh, Alta-Aurelia would send 14 batters to the plate and scored eight runs to put the game out of reach of the E-Hawks with an 11-0 advantage. Emmetsburg would get Lex Kassel on base off an error with two outs, but he would be left waiting when the game ended.

Corbin Saathoff would pitch four and a third innings and surrendered four runs, one earned, off two hits with three strikeouts. Jeremiah Weir pitched an inning and two-thirds and surrendered four runs, all earned, off two hits with two walks and a strikeout out and Nick Krieg pitched one inning and gave up four runs, one earned, off two hits with two walks and the E-Hawks were held hitless in the loss.
