Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks opened the post-season Tuesday night with a 9-5 victory over Sioux Central's Rebels. The win improved Emmetsburg to a mark of 24-7 on the year as they advanced to the Regional quarterfinal Friday night against St. Ansgar.

Sioux Central would strand their leadoff batter after an error, but could not bring her home to end the at-bat. Emmetsburg came up and went down two outs before Annie Brennan ripped a double and her courtesy runner Cheyanne Fries scored off a fielders' choice on Molly Schany's at-bat. However Schany would be left waiting when the inning ended.

The Rebels would answer with a run of their own in the top of the second, but would leave three runners stranded when the at-bat ended. Emmetsburg would get Abbie Schany on base off a walk and she advanced to third, only to be left waiting when the inning ended.

Sioux Central would push two runs over the plate in the top of the third inning, and left a runner stranded to take a 3-1 lead as the Lady E-Hawks came up to bat. Emmetsburg would take control of the game in the bottom of the third, as Bre Madden led off with a base hit and after a put out, was followed on base by Annie Brennan with a base hit and a single from Emma Anderson before Molly Schany pounded a double. A single from Abbie Schany followed and Mikayla Frerichs was walked before Parker Traub was put out for the second out. Lindsay Carter singled and Bre Madden added a base hit before Ali Laubenthal walked, but was left stranded with Madden when Brennan was put out to end the inning, but not until Emmetsburg had plated seven runs to take an 8-3 lead to start the fourth.

Sioux Central would get a run in their half of the fourth to cut the margin to 8-4 as Emmetsburg came up to bat. The Lady E-Hawks added a run from Molly Schany after she was walked to the end the inning with a 9-4 advantage.

The Rebels added another run in the top of the fifth inning but left the bases loaded when Emmetsburg made the defensive stop. Emmetsburg would also load the bases in their half of the fifth, getting Ali Laubenthal, Annie Brennan and Emma Anderson on the basepaths, but they were unable to bring them home. The Rebels would get runners to second and third in their half of the sixth, but were unable to bring them over the plate. Emmetsburg would get Mikayla Frerichs on base off a base hit and Lindsay Carter got on base off an error, but the duo were also left waiting when the inning ended.

Emmetsburg's defense tightened its belt in the top of the seventh, holding the 9-5 lead as the Rebels came up to bat. Sioux Central would get three walks to load the bases with two outs, but a ground out would end the threat and give Emmetsburg the Regional opening win.

Mikayla Frerichs recorded the win in the circle, allowing five runs, two earned, off six hits with seven walks and eight strikeouts.

For the Lady E-Hawks, Molly Schany tallied a double, while Bre Madden had two hits. Parker Traub, Emma Anderson, Anna Brennan, Lindsay Carter, Mikayla Frerichs and Abbie Schany all recorded base hits.
