A sculpture created by Emmetsburg artist Whitney Kibbie Bjustrom has been installed at The Shores at Five Island on North Lawler. Titled "Set Sail II,"the sculpture was put in place Wednesday, July 4.

Members of the Community Center Board of Directors commissioned Whitney to create a sculpture to be placed at the entrance to The Shores. The sculpture is constructed of aluminum, welded in the form of a sailboat with sails full and the craft leaning with the force of the wind. After forming and welding the boat and sails in place, Whitney polished and clear-coated the aluminum to give it the shine she desired.

Whitney is a graduate of Emmetsburg Community School, and the University of Northern Iowa. Last year she taught at Emmetsburg Elementary School and will be teaching at West Bend-Mallard School this fall. She and her husband, Tyler, reside in Emmetsburg.

The Community Center is a public facility for all citizens, with meeting rooms, lounge, sandwich menu, veranda and green space, and shoreline with a dock.
