Weather Wreaks Havoc With Twin Lakes Conference Track Meet

POCAHONTAS - In the end, Mother Nature won the 2018 Twin Lakes Conference Track meet, as a severe thunderstorm stopped the meet Tuesday night, and Thursday's continuation was cancelled to another storm.

After nine events were completed, Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks held the numerical point lead, and the E-Hawk boys were in fourth place, but no team champions will be named for this season.

Lady E-Hawk Results

The Lady E-Hawks would come away with a pair of championships in the shot put and the discus. Annie Brennan won the Shot Put with a heave of 36'3" and in the Discus, Molly Schany earned the Championship with her throw of 119'10". Annie Brennan placed second in the discus with a throw f 101'1" and Abbie Schany placed sixth in the shot put, throwing 31'6".

The Lady E-Hawks got a second place finish from the Shuttle Hurdle Relay in a time of 1:10.18, and Raven Brown finished third in the 3000 meter run in a time of 11:54.25. Gabrielle Janssen would finish fifth in the 3000 meter with a time of 12:365.35.

Courtney Wurzer earned fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 15'2" and Taylor Steinkamp was seventh with a leap of 14'4".

In the Sprint Medley Relay, Emmetsburg placed fifth in a time of 1:58.29 and the 4x400 relay took seventh place in 11:42.40.

Ali Laubenthal placed eighth in the high jump, clearing 4'8" and in the 100 meter dash, Mary Nelson was 10th in :14.15 and Lindsay Carter placed 11th in :14.24.

E-Hawk Results

Emmetsburg's boys would get a Championship from Blake VerMulm in the 100 meter dash with his time of :10.81, while Spencer Griffin finished 18th in a time of :12.54.

The E-Hawks got a third place finish from Cruz Bowman in the 3200 meter run with his 10:54.81 clocking, while Jacob Myers placed third in the discus, throwing 120'1".

Nick Schany earned fifth place in the shot put, throwing 42'3" and Jimmie Steffens threw 36'10.25" to place 13th.

The E-Hawk Sprint Medley Relay earned fifth place with a 1:38.50 clocking and Zach Foxhoven would earn a seventh place time in the high jump, clearing 5'8".

Cole Shirk earned sixth place in the long jump, coming away with a leap of 18'7.5" and Niklas Kulms finished seventh with his leap of 18'5.5".

Flavio Panci would round out the placings with a discus throw of 68'5", good for 19th place.

Both the E-Hawks and Lady E-Hawks will gear up for the Boys District and Girls Regional Track Meets this Thursday, May 10, weather permitting, at Manson Northwest Webster High School. Action begins at 4:00 p.m.
