Wolverine Boys Drop Trio

WEST?BEND - The Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Brad-gate fell in a busy week of contests. On Tuesday, WBM/ GCB fell to Manson Northwest Webster by a 48-52 tally. Thursday, the Wolverines traveled to Britt and fell by a 50-65 margin to West Hancock before taking on Pocahontas Area on Friday night and falling by a 75-60 final score. The losses drop the Wolverines to 3-15 overall and 1-10 in the Twin Lakes Conference.

Tuesday night the Wolverines took an early 14-11 lead after one quarter of play, and held the lead through halftime with a 28-26 advantage. But in the second half, the two clubs struggled offensively in the third quarter, battling to a 36-35 score to start the final quarter. But down the stretch, Manson Northwest Webster would catch the Wolverines and edge out to the 52-48 win.

For WBM/GCB, Thomas Fehr led the offense with 19 points while Danie Riesenberg tallied 13 points. Nick Ford and Noah Fehr would both score five points each, while Cole Hoskins added four points and Thad Fogarty chipped in two points.

Thursday evening, the Wolverines traveled to Britt to meet West Hancock and fell behind 19-12 after the opening stanza of play. The two teams battled evenly in the second quarter but the Wolverines trailed 31-24 at the intermission.

In the second half, WBM/ GCB would battle to keep up, trailing 46-35 and the end of the third quarter and down the stretch, West Hancock would maintain their lead for the 65-50 final score.

West Bend-Mallard/Gil-more City-Bradgate was led offensivley by Noah Fehr's 16 point effort, while Mason Link added eight points. Cole Hoskins, Thomas Fehr, Dan Riesenber and Nick Ford all scored six points each, while Dexter Knobloch chipped in two points.

The following evening the Wolverines squared off with Pocahontas Area and would battle hard all evening long, trailing 14-10 after one quarter of play, but cut into the deficit in the second quarter to trail by a digit, 31-30 at the halftime break.

But in the third quarter, the Indians doubled up WBM/ GCB 23-12 to take a 54-42 lead into the final quarter, and cruised on for the 60-75 win.

For the Wolverines, Thomas Fehr tallied 19 points with Cole Hoskins right behind with 18 points. Dan Riesenberg added 13 points, and Dexter Knobloch tallied four points. Mason Link scored three points while Nick Ford added two points and Noah Fehr chipped in one point.
