Emmetsburg Pizza Ranch Sold to New Owners
January 11, 2018

Darold and Diane Jamtgaard purchased the Emmetsburg Pizza Ranch and took over operations on Sept. 8, 1989. Diane and Darold moved from Hawarden with their son, Derek, who was a freshman in high school.

The Jamtgaards had no prior restaurant experience when they purchased Pizza Ranch. Darold had worked for the Sioux County Conservation Board for 14 years, and Diane was the head of the lab at x-ray departments at the Hawarden Hospital for 17 years. Both of these positions required that the Jamtgaards utilized people skills and determination.

Because the Pizza Ranch corporation is a Christian-based organization, Pizza Ranch was closed on Sundays until December of 1989. At this point, customers convinced the Jamtgaards that they would enjoy utilizing the restaurant on Sundays.

The Jamtgaards are thankful for the opportunity to work with so many hardworking employees like the four McNally sisters, the Williams family, Soenens, and many, many more. Many customers have become friends of the Jamtgaards.

"We just want to thank all of our customers for their support, our family for putting up with our crazy hours, and our employees past and present," Diane Jamtgaard said. "We certainly would never have made a successful business for 28 years without each and every one of you."

"We are so excited for Amy and Pat. We know we are leaving our customers and Pizza Ranch in very capable hands. Thanks for the memories, Emmetsburg."

Pat and Amy Martini are Emmetsburg natives. They are a young family invested in Emmetsburg. The couple has two daughters. Amy is an active member of the Emmetsburg?Chamber of Commerce.

Both Amy and Pat have worked for many years at the Pizza Ranch. For the couple, working at the restaurant began as a part-time job while still in school.

Next time you're visiting the Pizza Ranch in Emmetsburg, make sure to stop and congratulate Amy and Pat on their newest endeavor!
