David C. Quinn, 67, of Mason City, died Saturday morning, Oct. 7, 2017 at his home.

A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at Fullerton Funeral Home in Mason City. Jason Anderson, David's nephew, officiated the service.

David was born on March 31, 1950, in Emmetsburg. He was the second born of seven children, to Edwin and Lois Quinn. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1969, and shortly thereafter joined the National Guard in Spencer. David bought his first family home in Iowa Falls. At the time, he worked as a truck driver for Schuld Manufacturing Co, Inc.

After a handful of years, he moved with his wife and children to Garner, where he worked as a security guard, supervisor, and welder for Iowa Mold Tooling Co., Inc. He also served on the Police Reserve and was a volunteer EMT.

David was an avid hobbyist, and at the time he enjoyed constructing and painting model cars, and electric train sets. He also collected and sold belt buckles. While in Garner, David also volunteered as a CCD teacher at St. Boniface Catholic Church, and as a Cub Scout leader. David reignited his long held passion for cars, and enjoyed taking his 1975 Dodge Dart to local car shows. Years later, David moved to Clear Lake, where he was a truck driver for Carrol Sales Co., and a member of the Teamsters Union.

David has lived in Mason City since 1992, and it was here that he met Christine Nelson. They were married on May 20th, 2000. They combined their families with six children.

David had retired from full time work in 2015; however preferring to stay busy, he picked up part time work at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Over the years, David also worked for several local bars, where patrons could enjoy his presence and sense of humor. Those bars included the Candy Bar, Kozie Korner, Salees, Spikes, and Caf Northwestern.

David and Chris enjoyed camping, and often spent weekends in the summer outdoors. David had recently bought a 1987 Corvette, a car he had always wanted. He had dreams of driving his Corvette across Route 66.

For the last few years, David had been a judge for the Kansas City Barbeque Society, and was working on getting his Master Judge Certificate. Some of David's other pastimes included: perfecting meat smoking and grilling, researching shipwrecks, watching cartoons with his grandchildren, tinkering in his garage, collecting diecast cars, and playing the electric guitar (he had been in a band called The Chamber Lords as a teenager). David loved music, and used his wide range of musical knowledge to win music trivia contests at the Candy Bar.

Those thankful in sharing David's life include his wife Chris, and his children: Scott and his wife Molly Quinn, Sioux Falls, SD; Jamie and her husband Jordan Busch, Portland. OR; Jarrod and his wife Diane, Quinn, Los Angeles, CA; Trent and his wife Amanda Puentes, Ankeny, Travis Puentes, Mason City; Britany Puentes, Johnston, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild; five sisters Darlis (Curt) Hoppe, Trimont, MN; Danita (John) O'Leary, Dawn (Tim) Siemers all of Emmetsburg, Denise (Charles) Merideth, Crystal Lake, Donna (Brian) Dotson, Algona and one brother Dennis (Jan) Quinn Baxter, and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his 5 year old niece, Jill Nichole Long.
