Funeral service for Carol Andersen of Emmetsburg will be held Wednesday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Peter Morlock will officiate. Inurnment will be in South Walnut Cemetery, Graettinger.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Carol (Larsen) Andersen, daughter of Armand and Mary (Fransen) Larsen, was born in Palo Alto County on June 27, 1934. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1952. Following high school, Carol attended Dana College in Blair, NE, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Education.

She taught school in Welcome, MN and in Mallard, where she taught art and enjoyed doing watercolor painting.

On June 16, 1957, Carol was united in marriage to Robert Andersen at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. To this union a son, Robert A. "Rob" was born.

Carol was an active and devoted member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg, where she served on many committees and taught Sunday School. She was also a past member and president of Friday Club and a member of AAUW.

She and Bob spent many summers at the Iowa Great Lakes and winters in Arizona where they enjoyed hiking in the mountains and volunteering at Tonto National Monument near Phoenix.

Carol passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at Lakeside Lutheran Home, in Emmetsburg, at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents, Armand and Mary Larsen and an infant brother, John Larsen.

She is survived by her husband, Bob of Emmetsburg; her son, Rob; her grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel and Elizabeth; as well as other relatives and many friends.
